MATCH REPORT: 2016-10-15, GSNDS vs Wood Duck County

On a beautiful day for cricket on day one, the Gladdies put in a robustly typical Gladdies display. This time, we decided to put the collapse at the front end of the innings, falling to 4/6, all four wickets ducks. Not so bewdie.

In a desperate attempt to keep the innings going long enough for Rookie to arrive, we essentially gave up scoring runs. So despite the fact that the opposition only had 8 players we were only 4/38 off 18 overs. Eventually we were rewarded with some truly 3rd grade bowling served up, and Charlie, Brendan, Rob and Jamie all chimed in with scores in the 20s to get us to some kind of respectable total. Rookie eventually chipped in with a typically brisk cameo of 32 not out batting at 10, to have us finish on 164 off 44.3 overs. Not a terrible effort, and a bit of grass growth and boundaries as big on day two will give us half a chance.

And then the rains came. I suspect we had a good chance at defending 164 on day two, but we’ll never know.
