Amazingly, we ended up with a full team all the way out at Cartwright but, sadly, that wasn’t enough to avoid a headlong rush for the 5th Division wooden spoon. The opposition bowling was good, but not great, the outfield was slow, but not thick, and no-one got a duck, but no-one got to 20 either. There were some good performances with the bat, but we made hard work of it, and when Brendan was dismissed in the 36th over, we only had 114 to our name. It was something to defend, but as has happened a few times this season, after an early breakthrough, the opposition more or less went to town on us, racking up the victory in the 23rd over.
Nonetheless, it was a pleasant enough day out, and thanks to all for making the trip out there to represent. Special thanks to AJ who played, in the rain, with a worsening cold, and Brendan, who played on one leg all day. Champions both.
